Our Four Districts
Detailed overview of SAPP activities and key statistics across each programme district.
Balaka
Southern Region
Balaka
Active site for small stock distribution exercises, women empowerment in legume production, and formation of new farmer groups focused on sustainable income generation.
Lilongwe · Dowa
Central Region
Lilongwe
The administrative hub of SAPP, hosting the Programme Coordination Unit and Ministry of Agriculture oversight. Adaptive research activities and high-level programme review meetings are conducted here.
Central Region
Dowa
A key site for winter cropping promotion, irrigation scheme development at Mponela EPA, and documented Covid-19 adaptive responses. GVH Kanyumbu credited SAPP for transforming farming in this district.
Mzimba
Northern Region
Mzimba
The northern SAPP district, where conservation agriculture and climate-smart techniques are particularly important given the area's vulnerability to dry spells. Grace Matola harvested 11 bags from a single plot after adopting SAPP practices.
A Farmer's Voice from Mzimba
"After applying conservation agriculture knowledge, I harvested 11 bags from the same plot despite dry spells — more than double my usual yield."
Extension Planning Areas (EPAs)
